Building on our analysis from the previous semester, the team analyzed two buildings to make sustainability-related changes. This semester, our work focused on developing more detailed, building-specific recommendations by analyzing each house’s insulation, HVAC, and electrical systems. For one building, we developed retrofit recommendations supported by engineering calculations, including an assessment of heating loads and the feasibility of heat pump systems. For the other builidng, we focused on evaluating utility and heating-system improvements and developing recommendations informed by Cornell’s existing policies and sustainability goals.
