Project Description:
The bioenergy team worked with the biodigester being put at Cornell Teaching Dairy. We provided educational materials including tabling at ag fest and creating a short educational video script. We also researched inputs for the biodigester which involved communicating with Cornell Dining on frying oil and other feedstocks. The digester was in construction and not on campus for the semester.
For the educational side of the project our goal was to educate the larger Cornell Community about the digester and bioenergy. We presented materials at Ag Day including a graphic we developed to spread on social media and a poster for the event. This media detailed the general process of the digester and the relevance to the Cornell community. We also developed a short educational video script that could also be spread to the Cornell community and wider.
The logistics team worked on a diagram for how the anaerobic digester worked. They also investigated different waste sources including fryer oil and food waste. In addition, transportation methods were identified including using farm services for open back trucks, and baker commodities for oil.
